Play/Pause music while in-game

Hi, I'm wondering if there is a way to play/pause the Windows Media Player program while in-game (full screen) on a game such as Left 4 Dead 2 and maybe execute other commands to the media player (but play/pause is my main concern).

Help and advice is appreciated. :1angel:

[SOLVED] CoD: MW2 graphic issue

Hello everybody.

I just installed CoD: MW2 for my PC and now I finally got it to launch. I was having an issue with "DirectX has encountered an error"

I fixed this by installing the newest nvidia drivers for my graphics card.

So I launched the game, set up my controls/video/audio options and launched the single player.

It seems to work fine. When I use the aim-down sight ability (right click to zoom your crosshair in) my graphics go haywire, but when I right click again to zoom back out, it goes back to normal.

Here is an example of what I'm seeing when I right click:

Anybody know what could cause this?

Running Windows XP, my graphics card is a GeForce 8800 GTX 768MB

Keyboard Semi-Nonresponsive

Hey everyone,

I have a problem regarding my keyboard while playing FPS's. In-game, if I hold down a key too long, it becomes unresponsive. E.g. I'm holding "W" to run forward but if I hold it too long (the time seems to vary), I immediately stop. I have to press another key for "W" to become responsive again.

The keyboard is a Microsoft Wireless 3000 if that helps at all.

Processor :Intel(R) dual core(TM) processor 2.0 GHz.
RAM : 1 GB ddr2 kingston

These are a few of the specifications of my PC.

Please tell if my PC can run the games like Codemasters Ashes Cricket 2009, The Sims 3 etc.

And also some high graphics games like Assasin's Creed, NFS-shift etc.(though not perfectly)

If it can't run the latter games, please suggest the most appropriate mid-range graphics card.

can a '16 bit' game play on Win XP?

Hi all, I am a complete noob as far as games. I am asking for my son, who has a Windows XP tower and an old Dell monitor.

Can he play the game "Clue" which he says is 16 bit, on Windows XP?

He says he can hear sound, but nothing appears on the screen.

I have recently reinstalled Windows XP (Service Pack 3) again. I installed Halo and every time I launch it will go to a black screen and then crash to my desktop.

Things ive tried:
Reinstalling
Updating graphics card drivers
Changing desktop resoultion
Updating DirectX

System specs:
Processor:Intel(R) Pentium(R) D CPU 3.40GHz (2 CPUs)
Memory:4070MB RAM
Hard Drive:330 GB
Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce 9500 GT
Sound Card:Realtek HD Audio output
Operating System:Windows XP Home Edition (Service Pack 3)

how do you get rid of cod4 patches?

can someone please tell me how to easily get rid of cod 4 patches (i'm on patch 1.6) because i really dont want them and i want to go back to the original game. i dont want to reinstall the game and start again.:upset:

Source SDK Base won't uninstall properly

I deleted "Source SDK Base" recently, but my "Steam" folder only reduced from 8.5 GB to 8.2 GB and when I deleted SDK base it said the program was 2 GB or so.
I think I tracked my file changes to some files in:
\Steam\steamapps\\sourcesdk_content - 743 MB
Now I'm not sure if this is larger than normal as a steam folder size (8.2 GB) or
sourcesdk_content folder size (0.74 GB)
If any one knows of a way to reduce steams size please post, as my 70GB hard drive is getting crowded? :smile:

P.S. My only steam game is Portal (I have audiosurf, but I don't think it effects steams size)

FPS lag spikes

My CPU and GPU idles at 45-60 C range..is that bad? Sorry for noob question, really don't know my way around these things..

Cod4 Punkbuster lag issue

Recently I bought Modern Warfare 2..played multiplayer and it was great, I had 0 lag running @ 800x 600 with Spectacular map. It was smooth and I had no problems

But I've found out that Call of duty 4 has been lagging ever since I got it because of punkbuster, now in MW2 theres no punkbuster and I don't lag so I don't believe its my system :( (v)

Specs

Intel Core 2 Duo @ 2.20 GHZ
2 GB RAM @ 667
160 HD SPACE
GEFORCE 9500 GT DDR2 512MB

If I turn off punkbuster and go into a a non-pb server there is no lag, if I go into one with PB enabled I lag so frking bad....and I've scanned my system for virus, formatted, uninstalled unnecessary programs to no success. I can only say something in my system(or my internet) is conflicting with punkbuster, and I'm not the only one who has been experiencing this in my clan.

Lag is like FPS drops, If I cap my FPS @ 125 it will drop down to 91 or 80 making the game skip, if I fire a shot at someone it won't register obviously...really really REALLY FRUSTRATING

Can it be my router? Firmware? I heard from a friend who has this problem and upgraded firmware version and solved it but I'm not sure.

Please help, thanks. :smile: Id appreciate if someone could tell me and help find a solution, because I've beared up this lag for so long and just can't take it anymore

Hi, this is my first time posting in the threads and i am incredibly annoyed.

I downloaded COD2 1.3 patch and went to run the game when suddenly up popped a dialouge box:

So i re-installed it.. Nothing.. Downloaded that file and went to play the game when this message popped up:

"MSS DLL file istalled in Widows or Windows system directory, its must be installed in the Application directory"

So i checked and it was in the "miles" folder in COD2 folder and it was so now i am incredibly pissed off and am having withdrawal symptoms from COD2

Help me please!!!! I don't know what else to do!! :4-dontkno

Should I speed up ram or what?

Ok so I have a great gaming laptop, Gateway FX p-7805u. And now some games aren't as fast as once was. Like Need For Speed Undercover, and such recent games. There all running on high detail and I want to leave it that way. But they dont always work as fast as they use to. HELP?

SimCity 2000 in Windows 7

I have recently upgraded from windows vista home basic to windows 7 home premium. All my games seem to work except for SimCity 2000 Special Edition. Everything works fine in the game except when you click load or save (or anything that involves a window popping up). When you do this the game just crashes to the desktop. The game worked fine on vista so I think it has nothing to do with the hardware, just windows 7.

I have tried:
-making an exemption in the firewall
-turning off antivirus
-running in compatibility mode and changing settings
-turning off windows aero
-reinstalling
-attemped dosbox (may not have done it correctly)

I got these ideas off the internet. None of them worked. I'm no computer expert so if someone has a simple solution I would be very greatful.

Keyboard not working for some games!

I got a laptop about a year ago. It always worked just fine with everything. I had to get the keyboard on it replaced because one of the keys fell off. Sometime after that, although not directly, when I play certain flash games (that did work before), the keys won't work. Sometimes none of the keys work, sometimes a single key will work. I don't know why it's doing this, but it's pretty annoying.. Any advice?

PC crashes after certain action in a game

Okay, I'll try to explain this as best I can because it's really weird. I got a new PC about 2 years ago and played WoW: BC and my PC would always crash when I approached a certain beam of light (in Shattrath City if anyone knows what I'm talking about). Anyway it would never crash anywhere else, only when I'd get close to this beam of light.. it also wouldn't do it EVERY TIME. That wasn't really a huge issue since I could just not go there. Eventually I started playing EVE Online and this same type of crash happened only in a certain mission, which I did twice and then decided to never do it again, never crashed anywhere else. Now I'm playing DarkFall and after a few weeks of playing all of the sudden the game gets the same crash but only when I cast spells, again not EVERY TIME I cast a spell, but I can be on the game w/o casting and it never crashes, right when I start casting it will crash.

When the PC crashes the screen instantly turns to a solid color (random color, been red, green, yellow, etc) and whatever sound was playing also instantly stops, it then sounds like it's trying to restart itself and the screen starts flashing black, then it sounds like it does restart but the screen stays the solid color. I have to manually turn off/on the computer at this point.

I've tested the GPU temps in RivaTuner and it's about 55C idle and 65C under load. It was hitting ~70C but I cranked the fan speed up to 80% from 60%. I installed new drivers, I've rolled back to older drivers, I've disabled my sound card. Anyone know what could be causing this?
