I have the Logitech Z-5450 currently in my bedroom. Unfortunately 2 of the speakers have blown out, and the sub could be louder because all I listen to is trance and drum n' bass. I originally got this system because I wanted the wireless rear speakers. Now all I want is loud speakers, and I don't care about the cables. My question to you guys now is that if I wanted to purchase ONLY the Z-5500 speakers' and subwoofer, would I also need to get a new remote and control pod. My control pod and remote work fine, and I would like to keep them, but if I only have to buy the speakers and the subwoofer by themselves I can save almost 250 dollars. Otherwise new the Z5500 cost 400. On ebay new speakers and a sub together cost around 130 plus shipping. I could save a lot if there is no need for a new control pod and remote. Im just thinking that the control pod needs to be changed because of something in it that it has. Idk.

Or do you have any other suggestions for PC's or home theaters that are really good. 5-600 Watts Plus? Not crappy Bose or something. Good PC speakers. I am unable to find any online that havn't got sh**ty reviews. Any suggestions?

I have a Dell Inspiron 6000 and a RCA flatscreen HDTV, I have a VGA to HDMI cable. 2 people told me that's the right cable and that I have to change the settings on the laptop and tv. I have just been given a phillips 42PF552OD/10 plasma tv, it's not HD ready but according to the manual it supports enhanced definition.

I have never heard of EDTV untill today and i am just looking for some more info on what it's about and what i'd need to get the best picture quality possiable.

Am i right in thinking it is just progressive scanning? And do i just need a progressive scan DVD player?

Iv got a fair understanding of how thing's work,. but not about my problem...:rolleyes:

Anyhow, my stereo is a philips fw-c700 standard, and im wanting to run a subwoofer off it, for a little more power, iv got my self a sub and amplifiyer. now it just need connecting & the connection is like an av(just a black one)... right the stereo dosent have a subwoofer-out connection, only a slot where it should be. so i took the digital out conenction and soldered it onto where the subwoofer one is, but i still dont get nothing:upset:. im not sure why this is as i was almost 100% it would work...

il been talking to someone and he said the dsp that creats a low frequency will be missing. is this right?, have i done something wrong??

Im not sure if my tv is missing the software to play the files (I've tried .mp3, and .flv) cause it just says no media on card..
I have also put pictures (.jpg) on the card, and my tv can read those fine. Basically im curious what kind of files newer TVs support, what would be the best way (preferably without buying anything) to get movies to my TV.
I could always burn them to a dvd and play them that way... but there has to be an easier way. Also what would i need to use my tv screen as a computer monitor? What I am trying to accomplish:
I want to use the projector to display the Xbox 360 and get the audio from the surround sound. I can get audio from the DVD player with no problem.

What I have tried:
Xbox 360 > (w/ HDMI) > Receiver > (w/ HDMI) > Projector
I have tried checking each HDMI cable to make sure audio and video work and all cables are functioning correctly. Although I would prefer to use HDMI cables, I am flexible. I have component cables and digital/optical audio cables available. The only thing that I need, is the output cable from the receiver to the projector to be an HDMI cable.

My question:
Does my receiver lack audio pass through? If so, what are some solutions? But with the new computer its a DVI output with a DVI to HDMI adapter so audio cant run through the video card. I am going to loan him my 2.1 speakers until he can get his own (but his motherboard audio doesn't have digital so he has to use my sound card also). My question is can anyone recommend any 5.1 surround sound systems (either home theater or computer speakers) that can run audio from his motherboard (and preferably his PS3 which has optical and his TV which has the red/white output) that isn't expensive (~150-200$ max)? I had looked at the Logitech G51 but the rear cables arn't long enough to reach the back of his small bedroom, and their attached, so you would need a F-M extension, but i cant find any, or these LG 5.1 can anyone suggest anything?

TV is connected to Cox cable through antenna input. No cable box is used.

Channel scan shows 61 analog and 66 digital channels.

I can receive all analog channels clearly. All digital channels are recognized but no video or audio - only a "no signal or audio" message on the screen.

When clicking through the channels, the scanned digital channels show up correctly: 4, 4-1, 4-2, 4-3, etc, for example.

What's wrong?
