I have an Acer aspire 5520 with Vista sp2 and the webcam is the Bison version 7.32.701.12 Crystal Eye webcam

I know that this could be cause they are not available to my webcam but theres nothing wrong with checking to see if I'm wrong!

The reason why I query this is because I'm not certain but when I go to the acer support page and download the newest driver for my webcam its a newer version. I've uninstalled the other driver and installed the new one by clicking on the setup.exe and running the install. However when I reboot my system it reinstalls the old driver? :s (The new driver states that it is Webcam_Bison_7.96.701.12_Vistax86 where as my old one is version 7.32.701.12)

Appreciate any help available. Ty for reading! x

Hi folks, I'm a first time poster on this forum. I was not sure where to go to get feedback on an older piece of equipment and a web search found this site.

Anyhow, my wife is a watercolor illustrator and I scan in her work for her on the A3 size 836XL scanner. Some of you may know that while standard size scanners are relatively cheap, the larger ones are not. A decent new A3 scanner start in the $1500 range, something we can't swing right now. I tried a $160 Mustek A3 scanner, but the scan quality wasn't acceptable.

The 836XL has been giving us years of great service but just the other day, a brown line started appearing in the scans, looking a bit like a smear. It is near the center of the scan bed and starts gradually in the middle of the scanner and increases in density and very slightly in width as it travels to the bottom. There is nothing on the glass that could be causing this and I see nothing else visually that would account for it. Can anyone explain this problem and does it mean the scanner is near the end of its life? Scans in the top half of the bed are still fine, but that is not enough usable space for me.

Thoughts anyone? I use Hamrick VueScan software and a Ratoc SCSI to Firewire adapter since my iMac doesn't have SCSI capability. But I've been using this set-up for a while so I don't think that would be a factor.

Thanks for any insights you may have.

My VX-3000 webcam used to work before I reformated my computer (just to clean the system up). It's detected and installed but just doesn't display an image "black screen".

I'm running AVG, Zone Alarm and Ad-Aware (lava) free editions (protection).
It's running Microsoft Windows Home Edition (32bit) - SP3, fully updated.

Software; Microsft LifeCam3 (Up to date taken from Microsofts website and it's 32-bit driver)
Hardware; Microsoft Life Cam VX 3000.

It's really strange I had the same programs before I reformatted, i've not changed anything except maybe an update (microsoft update / sp3) could of produced the problem.

The camera isn't broken i've tried installing it on my other laptop which has Vista Ultimate, downloaded to drivers from microsoft and the camera runs sweet as a pea.

Anyways any advise / help would be much appreciated.

Thanks

What should happen is press the start button and the light stays momentarily orange with a loudish noise and then turns blue and the computer starts. About every 4th or 5th time I press the start button and the light stays orange and the computer will not start.
The only way out is to hold down button until it switches off and wait, then press again, at which point it starts normally. This is happening more frequently and today I had to repeat the operation 3 times before it started. I'm worried that one day nothing will work.
Does anyone know the solution please.
Any help would be great

A friend has a ViewSonic VG2021m 20" monitor with built in speakers, but we haven't been able to get them to work. In case we just don't know how to turn them on, I've gone through the troubleshooter up to the point where it has me open the Device Manager, double click Sound, video and game controllers, right-click the sound device, and then I'm supposed to click Properties. However, we don't know which device on the list is the monitor speakers. The list consists of: Audio Codecs; Legacy Audio Drivers; Legacy video capture devices; Media control devices; Microsoft UAA Function Driver for High Definition Audio - Adi 1986; and Video Codecs.

Are any of those the monitor speakers? If so which? If not, how do I get those speakers on the list?

Hi I am not sure if this is in the righ place but I have had some problems with my PC and I am wondering if anyone has any suggested solutions as I have tried a few things but with no luck:

Basically my problem started last week when I was online when all of a sudden my internet stopped working, following some testing I discovered that my ethernet port had stopped working (even though under system monitor it says it is) the reason I determined this was as I am using a Powerline Ethernet adapter to connect to the internet and it doesnt work when I plug it into the port but when I plug it in via a Ethernet/USB adapter it does.

Anyway since then my computer has frozen quite a bit with the blue error screen appearing, below are 2 of the messages I have received from it:

***stop 0x0000008e (0xC00000050xA329B1B1, 0x00000000****ADM511.sys-Address A329B1B1 Base at A329A000, Datestamp 3a8ba29a Beginning Dump of Physical Memory

and

Driver_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL "STOP 0X000000D1 (0x00000003,0x00000002,0x0000000,0xAAE81B1*ADMS11. SYS-ADDRESS AAEB81B1*ADMS11.SYS-ADDRESS AAEB81B1 BASE AT AAE87000 DATE STAMP 3a8ba29a

Also I am not sure if it has any relevance but almost everytime I go to shutdown I get requests to install updates before turning off which I always say yes too, it may not be relevant but just seems odd that I have had so many requests lately.

Since this has happened I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the network card and also starting in safe mode with networking, on both occasions the port does not work. Strangely the crashing only seems to occur when I am on the internet.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
