The problem i am having is the burnt copies i have of new release games (Modern Warfare 2, and Assassins Creed2) are reading as DVDs instead of Games. All my other burnt games work fine. I have tried a couple different copies of the games and they all read the same. Any ideas. By the way when it comes to computers and xbox's i don't know a thing.
So it's confusing somewhat........all other games work so must be the new games are bad....but 2 new games can't both be bad.....but what would make some work and some not?
Confusing.........any ideas from avid DSL'ers would be appreciated.

Hello,

I'd like to connect my Xbox 360 to my laptop using an ethernet cable, to share the internet connection. I've done this before, but my laptop was using a wireless connection; now it's on a wired connection, and thus the only ethernet port is taken up.

I was having a look on Amazon, and they sell USB to Ethernet converters...
Would one of these just make another network adapter on my laptop, allowing internet to come in through the standard ethernet adapter, and shared out to my Xbox through the USB converter?

Would this work, or does anyone have any other (cheap) suggestions?

Cheers.

Well, I went to the official xbl forums, but got no moderation or helpful responses. So, here I am.

Heres a c/p:
After reading through a few threads I have come to the realization that the number of possible issues is limitless. Im not a regular here, so I dont know the moderation, but just need someone who likes a challenge.

Anyway, heres a quick rundown of my current setup before I explain whats wrong.

ISP: Comcast
Router Model: Netgear WGR614v8
Laptop OS: Vista SP1
Topology: Router - Wireless Laptop - cat5 Ethernet - 360
Network is bridged(wireless+LAN)
All applicable ports forwarded afaik

Ok, well, here goes. Everything seems in order: properly connected, live is functioning, can enter parties and games. I'll party up with a few friends and jump in a game of Modern Warfare 2, still, no signs of instability. After some time has passed, oddly enough it may range from 5 minutes to 2+ hours, I get connection interrupted, then a minute or two of being completely locked out due to a frozen, unresponsive xbox. After the freeze has finished I am met with the "Can't connect to xbox live. Select test..etc" message box. Now, no matter what I do the xbox refuses to recognize the previously solid connection, however, two options do fix the issue temporarily(5m-2h): resetting the router/network adapter(lan cable) entirely or waiting a few minutes then testing the connection through the xbox, which, of course, reestablishes the connection. .....leads me to believe there is some sort of ip conflict/NAT error.

PS: Don't be fooled, just assume I know very little about what I am doing considering the possibility of something very minor being overlooked; greater detail if you feel it necessary.

Thanks in advance for any attempt to help - even complex problems can have simple solutions. Ok, now off to find someone I can help for my fair share .

I was also seeking some help on this error. What is happening to my xbox 360 elite when i turn it on the green light in the center turns on but the lights dont flash green around the ring but the fans turn on and the cd tray will open and close just fine, but i will have no sound and no video. when i turn the xbox off and on and after doing that about 4 or 5 times then the xbox turns on and i can play it. sometimes it takes 10 times of turning on and off till it will turn on. But sometimes as i am turning it off and on i will get an error 74 then i turn it off and back on and the xbox usally comes on ok. i am just having trouble with it when i havent played it till the next day and go to turn it on. once i get it to start up i can play all night and no red lights and it plays just fine no resetting and no freezing. This system is only like 4 months old brand new still not much play time on it either because i bought it just before i moved and had to unpack everything so not much playing time at all. any help would be aweswome thanks..
