Hello tech support forum,

I got a problem with a notebook with Vista and Intel 4965AGN wireless. On the first glance everything seems to be ok, but in system report there are errors regarding domain and time service during boot phase (5719 Netlogon and 130 Time Service). Because the user is able to logon without problem these errors obviously occur while trying to authenticate the computer, i.e. prior to user logon.

IP configuration is not the problem, encryption neither (DHCP or static address, WEP or WPA(2) or no encryption do not change that). If there is a cable connected the error messages disappear completely. I tried it with Intels configuration software and with Wireless Zero Configuration. Of course I updated drivers for 4965AGN and access point (Netgear WN802T). Another notebook with XP has no problems.

Also I tried the Microsoft solution of wireless networking with 802.1x (Radius) authentication and WEP / WPA Enterprise as well as several registry hacks concerning delaying mediasense or DNS-contacting and so on.

After weeks of fumbling I'm quite sure that the problem is hardware related. Intels 4965AGN obviously is not willing to communicate with my domain controller exactly at the time Vista expects it to. Before I tell my customer that I cannot change this I'll give it a last try here: has anyone any intelligent idea for another approach to this?

Thanks for your patience having read that, ;)

Regards
Tim

Hello,

There are a few issues I don't understand. I suspect because they are obvious to anyone who understands technology. My expertise is in other areas, and at my age I really don't want to be expert in networking. :)

1. Is wired networking (currently) the fastest/most stable method?
2. In electrical wiring, one cable serves many outlets, is this the same with ethernet cable? OR Does each outlet require its own cable? So in a room with five outlets would that require five cables?
3. What is the most up to date standard of cable?
4. Does the above cable require new network cards?

My objective is to be able to stream media throughout my home.

Thanks very much...

Hi! I own a Toshiba Satellite U405, running Windows Vista Service Pack 1. I am having some trouble connecting to the internet via ethernet cable...

I am pretty sure that it has something to do with the OS not recognizing the cable, or possibly something wrong with my networking card. Although the lights turn on when I plug the cable into my laptop, it does not actually recognize its presence and will not let me connect to the internet through it. I can only get "local connection".

Other people have been using the ethernet cable and have had no trouble with connecting to the internet.
I have had my laptop for two years, and last year I used ethernet connection all the time with no problems... this is the first time I have had trouble with ethernet. Please help! How exactly do I fix this problem?
I have a feeling that this is a pretty common problem with Vista...

I am trying to set up a Swann Surveillance (Security) system with my computer. I have 4 computers (3 desktop + 1 laptop) in total on my location. Primary computer ( Cashier Till) is connected with D link Router with Ethernet cable. Other 2 desktop computers and laptop are connected wirelessly with D link router. So this is the whole set up of computers. All desktop computers have windows XP professional in it but laptop have windows vista home premium in it

My ISP is already charging me for 2 IP addresses. Now I need another one for my security system DVR. I don’t want to spend too much money on it but I want to view it remotely. Somebody suggested me about dynDNS.com but I don’t know how this thing works with dlink routers . Could anybody please tell me the procedure how can I set it up for my whole network so that I can watch my DVR remotely without spending any extra money on it. Sorry for being so cheap but I already spent too much money on whole system and especially at this time of recession even single penny counts.

Thanks in advance

Hello

I've got a about 1 year old sony vaio fz31z and when i got my new cable modem with a 100mbit connection I wanted to get the most off it so I had to use my ethernet connection (RJ45) instead of Wireless.

The problem is that the ethernet device Marvell youcon something keeps disappearing from my hardware. The funny thing is that sometimes it just works fine and then after the computer restarts/returns from hibernation its gone again and doenst show in the device manager or anywhere. When its found by windows it works just fine.

I've tried to find any ethernet card settings from the laptop BIOS but its so limited that there is nothing about the ethernet device.

I've tried updating the drivers, changeing the power management options so it wouldent turn off during hibernation but it still keeps on disappearing. I've called sony support but they were useless and they suggested a pickup for repairment but it would have cost around 600€ so I said no thanks.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance and sorry for my poor english!
