In the above sample data, ip 124.82.84.192 of session [ses 0xb4b] is my IP, I have no idea who/what the other IPs are. However these are legit connections to various sites (I've checked some, and the ones that I got through are mostly just plain websites).

I've been having this issue for the past week, and I have no idea how to explain this to my ISP, since they believe I'm high on something when I mentioned I have traffic while even disconnected.

At peak hours, when these unknown traffic are at their highest, I practically lose all connection to the internet with over 80% packet loss even to my ISP gateway.

Anyone clueful and experienced on the matter, I would sincerely appreciate some insight on whether this is a faulty DSLAM, or any other issue, and any other relevant info, which I may be able to somehow break it down to the Einsteins that work as tech support for my ISP.

Edit: I apologize I believe I may have posted in the wrong forum, I'm reposting this in the "Networking Support" forum, feel free to delete this post.

HI there - I've bought a new NEC Aterm WR8150N wireless b/g/n router to connect my laptop and PS3 to the internet. All the instructions and drivers etc are in Japanese only (I don't read it) but I thought I'd be able to figure it out as the setup process is largely automated. However, the simple setup process hasn't worked, and I'm stuck. I'm not expecting specific help (unless you can read Japanese...) , but perhaps someone more experienced might give me some things to try, I suspect its a simple problem.

Problem : Router is not connecting to the internet via the cable modem. Laptop is connecting fine to the router wirelessly but there is no internet connection. I can connect to the router both wired and wirelessly (so the SSIDs, security keys etc are all workign fine and connections established) but not the internet from there. If I connect to the cable modem directly though, the wired internet connection reestablishes itself fine, so the cable connection and modem are fine.

Setup : NEC Cable Modem CM6550T connected to NEC Aterm WR8150N by patch cable connected to HP Inspiron 1720 laptop wired/wirelessly, doesn't work in either. Using Vista Home Premium SP3.

I imagine it is some setting on the router config that is not allowing it to connect to the internet, and I can access the config pages / driver using firefox when I'm connected to it - Its all Japanese, but I can probably find a setting if I know what I'm looking for. Any suggestions?

Many thanks
Basically, I unplug the cable from my modem, disconnect the power, plug it into the xbox, then reconnect the power. I need to do this whenever switching between the xbox and the computer. I have never had problems, but lately, whenever I try to connect to my PC again, I need to restar the computer or it won't connect to the internet. This never used to happen. Also, sometimes my internet cuts out and in order to connect again, I need to turn off the computer, turn off the modem, turn it back on, and then turn my computer back on or it won't connect. I don't know what's going on. Please help. Thanks.

I am having problems with my wireless. We have three computers in the house all connected wirelessly and two nights ago, they all crashed at the same time. we rebooted the router and two out of three connected fine. The third connected but is not receiving. We did alot of troubleshooting with many tips, to no avail.

We have tried:

-Setting a static IP
- We tried a tip that was on another thread where we were instructed to type "netsh winsock reset catalog" >enter ""netsh int ip reset reset.log" > enter > restart computer. nothing changed
-we have tried uninstalling the drivers and reinstalling.
-disabling all firewalls and VP/SPYs
-release and renew ip address. (states it always cannot renew)

I am now at a loss, help?

When I type ipconfig/all in cmd this is what comes up....

Hi guys.
I have a Netgear DM111P ethernet modem bridged into an Asus WL-500W router.

Problems:
- The connection is unstable. Whenever I try to download something, especially large video files with my browser (Firefox/IE), they stop by theirselves and I need to resume them every time. Sometimes more than once.
- When I click on weblinks, sometimes I have to click twice because webpages take too long to load up.
- Video streaming (YouTube) and music streaming (web radios) don't work very well. I have to refresh multiple times.

This problem doesn't show up when connecting to the Internet directly through the modem (router disconnected).
What that could be? Of course, it is router related but I don't know what to change. I have a DD-WRT firmware on my router.

Please help me out.
Cheers.
My wife got a laptop ( visat 32 bit) for a course she is on , Acer aspire 5536g. It has atheros AR5B91 wireless network adapter drivers 7.7.0.396 says built by WinDDK (tried also 7.6.1.194) .
The connection works great with a cable connected but wirelessly it is really hard to connect.
If I mess around a bit de-activating the card then re-activating it and uninstalling , rebooting so that it installs again ....then I can sometimes connect wirelessly.
It does not appear in the Connect to a network box BUT it does sometimes if I de-activate etc etc , then when it is there it will sometimes connect but mostly it is unable to and then the connection disappears.

any advice on what to do ...where to get reliable drivers that may work etc etc

Thanks
I click on save changes, and the screen comes up changes saved successfully, but it reverts right back to the old password. Have tried the reset button and even the re-install disk, which worked for a day, but then the old settings somehow reappeared. Is there a way to change the configurations on the router and make them stay?

I'm hoping to get just a little feedback on a problem I'm having with my home network. As the title says I'm getting intermittent drops. The problem is always that the modem needs to be power cycled, not the router.

I'm definitely not savvy when it comes to networking so I took the poor mans approach to tracking down my problem. I connected my PC directly to the modem and no drop as far as I can tell. I then reconnected my PC (wired) to the router and disabled the router's wireless functions to rule out any other computer. Connection drop.

It seems pretty straight forward that the problem is the router but I wanted to get a second opinion. Perhaps there is another reason that I overlooked and I'd really like to avoid having to buy a new router.

I'd like to think I'm relatively clued up RE computer issue diagnosis (in comparison to the average person anyway) but this issue I am currently having has stumped me completely. I'll keep this as brief as possible.

During thunderstorm about 3mths ago, old Dlink wireless modem surged. Since, we have installed a CISCO linksys (w/out antenna). As it is now, the net is working fine, everything perfect. However, if either: my sister were to start up her laptop in her room down the hall, or if I were to take my toshiba laptop into my room - the screen will go completely blank with all the internals still running. The screen is still on, but just black with the HDD whirling away constantly. If i say have music playing, it stop and start to skip.

At this point I typically, hold down the on/off button and do a hard shut down and just leave it until my sister no longer uses her computer and I then go off and use my parents toshiba that is connected via an ethernet to the same wireless. If I were to try and restart the computer, it will run for a minute or 2 before it again goes to the blank black screen.

So yes...bizzare!

I am completely stumped here, just a point in some general direction would be greatly appreciated.

Regards,
Kyle

I have a WAG325N and I have a problem where the internet would stop and apps like msn would still keep running but when I restart them they would stop. This problem also occurs on the iPhone which is also wireless. So I have to restart the wireless every time in order to get everything back on. I did a bit of research and figured out that its a DNS issue. I ran 'cmd' then 'nslookup google.com' when the internet stopped and I get dns timed out message. I was wondering how do I stop the DNS from timing out on my router?

PS - in order to change settings on this router does it have to be wired or can i just do it wirelessly?

Thanks
