On Monday, in a fit of rage, I slammed my laptop closed pretty hard.

From Tuesday onwards I've been unable to stream video from my latop to my Xbox. Videos will load, but very very slowly. And they'll start buffering again every few minutes.

Streaming was working perfectly before. I have all the settings right.

Could I have damaged something with my foul temper? Maybe I'm looking for the obvious answer. But if I didn't change anything on my laptop, Xbox, or router I can't think why it would stop working.

Laptop is a Compaq CQ60 running Vista 6.0 SP1. Having no other issues on the laptop. Internet speed is unaffected at 5mb.

Any ideas?

Hi, I have a new Dell Vostro 1720 laptop that I bought this summer. It has already had various viruses which have resulted in the laptop hard drive being renewed. I have no problems with this as I have waranty and a guy to fix it but just to let you know the last time its hard drive was wiped was about 3-4 weeks ago. Right now I am experienceing a very very slow laptop! Opening any application or programme takes a very long time and frequently a programme, most commonly internet explorer or windows explorer, will be unresponsive and when I 'end task/process' in task manager it does not end the task and so I have had to hold the power button down until it turns off. I have been having to do this ever increasingly recently and it is getting rather annoying. I really don't know what the problem is. I am not using much of the memory with 133 GB spare out of 232 GB in total. ??????? any suggestions?
thanks, benji

Hi guys and girls,

firstly, if there is already help for my problem and ive missed it, i apologise. But i will list as much detail as i can remember.

- I have an Acer Aspire 3100 series, and a while ago, ordered a replacement charger, as due to wear and tear, the end of the cable and become torn and the wires were frayed.

- After using the replacement for a little while, (it seemed to be a cheaper version bought from ebay) i had to start fiddling around with it when plugged into my laptop to get it to charge, in some positions it would charge, in others it would not. This makes me think theres a problem with the dc jack on the motherboard.

- Was using the laptop whilst plugged in, and didnt realised the charging pack was being covered by a duvet, this got extremely hot and anded up blowing up internally, with the charger being a little deformed(woops)

- I ordered a replacement from ebay, and after receiving plugged it in. After approx 2 mins of charging, it stopped, and would not charge again. The end of the charge is sturdier and of the "L" variety, so i assumed it maybe the charging jack on the motherboard.

- I opened the laptop, and got to the charging jack, but cannot find anything untoward, its not loose, no points arent making contact, and no solder is missing.

- I ordered a new charger, and had been workin for a good few hours, but all of a sudden, when i plug the charger in, and turn the laptop on, it shorts the electricity in the house and the fuse switches off at the mains

- however if i plug the charger in and connect it to the laptop, and DONT turn the laptop on, it charges the laptop.

Sorry for the LONG post, but could anyone give me any ideas if its just the same ebay seller giving me faulty charging packs? or could it be that my laptop is shorting the pack? or something i may not have correctly assembled when puttin my laptop back together? Any help most welcome.

Thanks

I have this acer 5670 only thing I know about it was what I can see from the BIOS. I got it with the power cord and computer (Fixing it for someone). Its completely messed up, everything I do results in an error. The computer starts up gets to the acer screen where it asks you if you want to enter setup then after a couple seconds goes to a blank screen and doesn't do anything.

Boot from CD? Wouldn't change order. Had to enable the f12 to select boot device then hit f12 and select IDE 2 (Option to choose CD Rom didnt show up)

Once in the menu I cannot delete any of the partitions, cannot install windows on any of them due to errors (one of them is out of space when it asks to format it first I say yes and it gives me an error, one it says it doesnt recognize the partition and the other one just makes it crash with some sort of setupdd.sys error)

Run windows recovery and it says the path or file specified is not valid.

Yeah, I know not alot of information but w/e I do leads to errors lmao. Help would be very much appreciated. Thanks

Edit: If I take the windows CD out and select it to boot from IDE 2 using the f12 menu it gets past the acer screen but says

PXE-E61: Media test failure, check cable
PXE-M0F: Exiting Broadcom PXE ROM
Operating system not found.

Reading up on other sites it says to disable network booting in the bios so I did that and it removed the PXE errors but not the operating system not found.

thanks!

I just came across a power supply for an old IBM Thinkpad R51 I had lying around and decided to bring it back to life. Erased the HD, installed fresh software, everything works fine! Everything except the Wireless networking part. Can't turn on the internal wireless network device to save my life. Can't get into CMOS or the bios, cause it's passworded and I can't remember the password for the life of me, but I'm pretty sure the wireless card is enabled because I never disabled it! The infrared port is intact and working fine. Control panel does not see a wireless device, even though I've installed the drivers for it numerous times with no problem. How do I get this wireless device to work? Please help.
