I have looked all over the internet for assistance on my topic and have been unsuccessful at finding any answers, so I decided to come directly to the pro's, all of you!I am creating a website, and I want my visitors/customers to be able to "join" directing them to create a username and password, and then turn around and have the ability to login to the account they created. When in their account they can access pages I create for the members only section, and they can also update their personal information. Almost every website on the web has this ability. I have no idea how to enable this to happen. I contacted my hosting provider and they directed me to PHP-NUKE but that didn't get me anywhere. Is there anyone who could assist me in figuring out how I would make this happen? Thank You!Jeff (23 from Portland, OR) |

You will need a sql database in order to do this. So you will more than likely have to write your page in php or .net. I would suggest php and mysql because they are free.

If you want to make it yourself, you'll have to use either Perl or PHP. MySQL is also a good idea for storing the user info/passwords/etc. There are other solutions as well other then PHP-NUKE if you'd prefer to use something that others have already created.
This is just a small sample of Content Management Systems (CMS) that you could use: Drupal Geeklog Joomla Mambo Open Source PHP-Nuke phpWCMS phpWebSite Post-Nuke Siteframe TYPO3 Xoops You'll need to decide which is best for you, but I would stay away from PHP-Nuke/Post-Nuke.
