My Poor little website hasn't got a home
Hi, Im not sure in the right place,
I am currently trying to load my website .co.uk on to uk2net sever, but its seems I am having a few problems and the help service seems slightly poor. Background info is that I have completed a simple 5 page css menu website using dreamweaver mx on a vista pc. I have followed the server instruction in getting started but not having much luck at all. I tried to load my site via FTP and entered all the information required as needed, but that never worked , with all the problems that have occurred, I loaded each page and image etc via the file manager. This seemed to work and I have placed them in public html, was this right place? Where do I put my website to be seen on www? My main page is indexed etc any suggestions would be really appreciated as I have gained a few more gray hairs over this one. Is there a step by step guide to getting the site on line etc The file folder looks like this; /public_html Access-logs Etc Home Index.html Public ftp Public_html Ruby Tmp www Many thanks |

Re: My Poor little website hasn't got a home
You'll want to upload all of your files to public_html. The "www" folder is just a shortcut to your public_html folder. Also, make sure your filenames and folder names are lower case as that will make a difference.

@ hardmandj: Welcome to TSF!
It could still be that your 'home-page' or index.html has to be outside of this folder, but try the suggestion of Skie first. |

Re: My Poor little website hasn't got a home
Based on the directory structure he posted, it looks like he's on a CPanel server. If this is the case, no files will be accessible if they're outside of the public_html directory.
