getting page into search engines

I've just created a web site that is being hosted on Comcast personal web pages (ie, included in my broadband account), but I've purchased a domain name with 1and1, which forwards to my web site. My question is, is it possible for me to have my page picked up by the search engines, or is it essentially blocked from them because it's hosted on Comcast personal web pages?

Thanks!

Most search engines have a way of submitting a page for them to look at. How long it takes for them to actually look at your page will depend on the search engine. Another thing you can do (which will take more time) is to have your page linked to from another site that's already known to the search engines. They periodically go through all known websites to index new pages and find new links. Eventually, they'll find your site and look it over.
