Security Question

I have a website that I use to serve a group I belong to. I would like to have a page that members could go to if they needed to get a phone number
and or address of a member if they needed it. I can (and will) password protect it so that anyone that stumbles onto the site will not be able to access it. I consider this information private and would like to secure it. I have no meta tags on the site or page.

My question to the experts is this: When I request the page from the server I- how secure is it while enroute to my computer? What is the possibility that it could be intercepted/copied/ or otherwise compromised?

Other than purchasing SSL certificate from the server- is there another way to hide the info or keep it safe?

Thanks-

Andy

have you contacted your hosting company with this question? if so can you post their response? I have no clue but I'm really curious what the answer is.

Yes- I have and they stated that the SSL Cert is a must. I was just double checking here on the TSF.
