Email

I have my own address from dyndns.org with an Apache server on my Linux computer. This works well for HTTP and such, but I would like email as well. For instance, my domain is ***.homedns.org; I would like my email address to be alex@***.homedns.org. Is this possible? Preferably, I would like a free service but am willing to pay provided it is inexpensive. I would appreciate any input on this. Thanks a lot, and by the way, you've got a great site here!

Thanks again.

Will you be handling the SMTP/POP3 yourself on your Linux box at home? If so, you'll need to install an smtpd and pop3d. You'll then need to edit your domain name and set the MX record to point to your home IP. (I guess this would be similar to how you're doing it for HTTP.) For SMTP, I would recommend using Exim, though it might be overkill for you. I don't really have a recommendation for POP3, but you might want to consider using SquirrelMail so you can have webmail. This will allow you to access your mail anywhere (like hotmail or gmail).

If you want to pay for the service, just find any web hosting company and talk to them about it. You'll just need to set your MX record to the IP that they provide you with.
