Basic Template
Hiya People,
I am trying to find a basic website template that I can use to sell cars on the net! I run my own garage that sells a few cars. I would like just a basic one where i can upload some pictures of the cars and some interia pictures too. Any sugestions? Thanks, Andy Ferriby |

Re: Basic Template
First you want a webcam and now you want a way to sell cars.
My guess is you're going about doing this whole thing completely wrong. First, you need to find out if your web-host or ISP allows business to be run off their servers/IPs. Second, you need to focus on one thing at a time. Pay-per-view webcam and a car sales website are two completely different things and distract from each other. Third, is your site completely legal? Does it apply with state/federal law regarding sales, collection, etc. After all of that is handled, then I suggest POSSIBLY making a website to make money. I'm not trying to put you down here, I would honestly love it if there weren't so many rules and regulations regarding websites or even sales in general. Disclaimer: I'm no lawyer. Also, this paragraph contains phrases that may or may not be viewable by persons younger than 18 or 21 depending on your location. Highlight text below if you are legally allowed to view and agree to these conditions. Here's an example of what could go wrong: Lets say you sell one of your cars to a guy in Cali, you live in Kansas, and you try to do the right thing and sell it with the tax and all that good stuff. Only problem is, there are laws that require purchases that go over a certain amount to have the tax go to the state the guy resides in (I don't know if you live in Kansas, it's a hypothetical). How about one more: Why would anyone want to view a web cam? The only reason I think of is a dirty one and the first likely to pop in to peoples heads. Let's just assume for now that is is going to be a "pay-site" for questionable material. Let's say that because you're based in one location you don't have the time or the resources to check the validity of ID's used to prove they're 18+ and you go to prison for a long time. Or lets say you forget to put a warning required by the FCC or someone on your site... It's almost worse than allowing a girl under 18 be viewed on camera. Alright, it's safe to look now. Honestly, it's much easier to sell a car online with a site like eBay or Craig's List. I'd like to help, but the projects you're talking about are too big for anyone to take on without compensation. I mean, how would you like someone to ask you to provide a service, or even a product, gratis--free--that you would normally be getting paid to do/provide. If you have a script we're more than happy to provide help debugging it, improving it, etc. If anyone would like to, they can even write the site for you and have fun with it. However, the general message I get from the domain name of this site is Technical Support, not Technical Work. If I had the time, energy, resources, etc. to make this happen for you I would, but I don't. The only thing I can suggest are the resources I've provided above--even a few examples if you read between the lines a bit--and that you take a look at w3schools and learn at least a little before you try something this big. I know from experience... it's not an area you want to throw yourself into without taking a good look. |
