HV Menu v4 visible in IE, not in Firefox
I've hunted everywhere I can think of to find out why Ger Versluis' HV Menu runs just fine in IE, but remains unviewable/unuseable in Firefox. I'm running V4 and would upgrade to v5.411 if I thought it would make a difference.
(Oops! I'm running v5.41, turns out - I built it so long ago I'd forgotten.) I began using Firefox exclusively (almost - there are a few things it *won't do properly IMO) this past week and was surprised that http://www.cdvkiln.com/nava.htm displays the menu properly in Firefox, but in use on the site (for example, at http://cdvkiln.com/menuglassfinishingtoolsoverview.htm it's invisible in Firefox. Any idea what's going on with this? Any/all feedback greatly appreciated. Albert Last edited by alewis14151; 07-19-2009 at 05:40 AM. |

Re: HV Menu v4 visible in IE, not in Firefox
Hello Albert and welcome to TSF.
I'm still trying to pinpoint the problem here, but I know it has to do with the frames. If you view nava.html in firefox alone, the menu appears and is fully functional. I'll get back to you after I keep looking into this but I wanted to let you know that your problem is being reviewed.

Re: HV Menu v4 visible in IE, not in Firefox
Hey Albert.
After a million cracks at this, I just can't seem to get it. I'm very confident that this script does not support frames even though it insists that it does. I tried creating a very simple frameset and using the script but still no luck. Tomorrow I will give it one more try, but right now it doesn't look like it's going to work.

Re: HV Menu v4 visible in IE, not in Firefox
Firefox and Internet Explorer handle frames differently. I just tried reinstalling the script and it is technically functional, but it is still erroneous. All of the menus open in the same spot and it is very cluttered. What I recommend you do is implement PHP into your navigation page. I think that you should keep the menu you have for all user.agents (browsers) except firefox, and then assign any firefox users a unique navigational pane.
If you need help with this, I can assist.

"I will post a tutorial for you once I get a minute. The only thing I ask of you is to find a new menu that you would like to display for your firefox users to see."
I'm looking through javascripts.com now ... do you have a suggestion for a different source? |

Re: HV Menu v4 visible in IE, not in Firefox
I'm looking at
http://webdeveloper.earthweb.com/web.../670871_viewit but I don't see that it says it'll run in frames. Perhaps you have an idea where I'd best be spending my time looking for what I need? |
