Web Easy 7 Error at top of page
I have designed and successfully uploaded my website and am working on correcting some issues (mainly links), but there is one problem I cannot figure out and was wondering if anyone can help me.
At the top of my webpage (on all pages so I assume the web document?) there is a box with an 'x' and the symbol < www.novelescapes.com is my website if you need to have a look to see what I'm talking about. I have searched through inspector to see if I can find where this might be hiding to delete it, but am unable to locate it. Please can someone help me!!! |

Re: Web Easy 7 Error at top of page
Hey, in your source code search for ">"... You'll find it around line 16 i think, take that out and it will remove the ">"...
I don't see the x you mentionned. Can you be more specific as to where it is? (I'll take another look)... As for the other problems a good place to start would be; http://validator.w3.org/ 200+ errors with your source code... Web Easy's Fault. But if you start to fix them your site will be more accessible. Cheers, Jamey |

Re: Web Easy 7 Error at top of page
Thanks for the response. The 'X' seems to have disappeared (?) but the '<' is still there. Are you able to direct me as to how to access the source code to make this correction. Sorry, I am new to all this and have no idea how - have searched everything and cannot figure it out so far...
Another question: I have updated the site several times now and my home page always remains the same as the very 1st time until I navigate a bit and then go back to the home page where it suddenly refreshes. any ideas on why this might happen? |

Re: Web Easy 7 Error at top of page
Hey again, to view the source code:
1) Find the .html file in windows explorer. 2) Right click it 3) Open With->Notepad 4) Click Edit->Find 5) Type > and find. 6) If you find it, remove it... If not check the other HTML files. As for the other problem i'm not yet sure, sorry i'll get back to you. Cheers, Jamey |

Re: Web Easy 7 Error at top of page
thanks again so much for your replies! I've been able to (finally) locate the .html file with notepad and am still searching for that > (I assume I look on each page with that .html file) but have a question about how I go about saving and implementing these changes. I realize I can save on notepad, but how does this bring about changes on the website?
Sorry for my lack of knowledge, but I tried to take out most of what I had on line 17 because it was causing many errors according to the validator, but it is still giving the same error messages for that line (it also uses this line when I try to add it as a link on facebook and links to amazon which i don't want - so I've checked that (although you probably already know this I'm sure) and nothing's changed. I almost wish I had taken some proper courses instead of using this program with all the hours I've spent on it, figuring it out and now trying to fix the glitches. Anyhow, thank you so much for all of your help! |
