I would like to set up a new site and have all the items organized into categories and then have a generic page pulled up for every item and have it automatically filled in with information from a database.
What I want to know is if I can use my QuickBooks database which is already complete and either automatically update online (which I know would be more complicated) or more preferably have it so I can upload a new database when I chose. I also need this to pull a corresponding photo of the item for the page if possible. Would I need an intermediate database where I combine the item and such with the picture? I use QuickBooks Premier 2006 and Dreamweaver CS3 and am relatively new to both. Any help would be appreciated. |

Re: QuickBooks Database Online?
Okay Darnel 380, i was faced with this dilema around 3months ago when i was planning my website.
Im not sure what your trying to say but i think your saying: "I want to have a page with prices that are from a automatically updating database" I dont know much about quickbooks, but i THINK its possible to intergrate it to a SQL database (like mySQL). Im not sure if you can operate quick books automatically updating feature while it is a SQL database, IF it is possible it will be very easy to use PHP to get the variables from the SQL database and echo them onto the screen.

Re: QuickBooks Database Online?
In that case, since i do not know much about 'quick books' i would convert fully to mySQL, once you do having pages that update from a database is blindingly simple.

Re: QuickBooks Database Online?
I am not familiar in MySQL, but I could learn. I just need a way to move data from Quickbooks into any database management tool (I think Access works better with MySQL) so I don't have to retype all of that data.
