Re: could you help me ?
Hey, the reason you can't download these files is because they really don't want you to.
Basically the method they use to serve/stream the video redirects to a webpage if not requested by the player. I've tried my usual methods (to no avail) [Note to mods, etc: their terms of use state clearly that you may reproduce their content for personal use]... If you want to download these (why do you need to by the way?) i feel that just asking them would probably be the best idea. Cheers, Jamey |

Re: could you help me ?
yes you are right they dont want them to be downloaded. but i dont think about reproducing them. i only want to watch the videos on my computer not on the web. coz my connection is so slow ( 20 KB/s ). so when i open a video there, it starts to freeze very often. thats the problem.and also i want to watch them when i wouldnt be connected to the web. :( i have sent email to the realage community but they havent helped me.

Re: could you help me ?
and we know that the data of the video need to pass through our RAM, so i wonder if there is a method to capture that streaming data and save it :) if i have lots of free time, i would overcome it, but nowadays i have to study for my university projects and spanish. i wonder if there is any so knowledgeable person who knows the method on this forum ;)

Re: could you help me ?
Basically the way it is it's not possible. Although the rule that anything on your pc must be downloaded still applies, they encrypt the url and file in such a way that it's just too hard. As it is if you know that they're not allowed to be downloaded (even though the terms of service contradict this) then i'm not helping anymore than this(even if i could).
Cheers, Jamey |

Re: could you help me ?
anybody can't forbid to download them. if they broadcast it on internet so what is the difference for them about me to see it on the site or on my computer??

Re: could you help me ?
If they don't want you having it they don't want you having it. And they've done a good job at stopping people from downloading it. It's their intellectual property and if they don't want you having it (have you e-mailed them?) then they're allowed to do what they like to keep it.
At the end of the day you won't be able to get the origional FLV/MP4 without loads of work/knowledge/experience... So either ask them or go about it a different way. Cheers, Jamey |

"At the end of the day you won't be able to get the origional FLV/MP4 without loads of work/knowledge/experience..."
yes i know that's why i am asking here for anyone that knows a working way. but finding a way to obtain the video is not illegal. so if you don't know a way which works, please help. but if you dont know, dont say something like that "As it is if you know that they're not allowed to be downloaded (even though the terms of service contradict this) then i'm not helping anymore than this( even if i could)." coz it is not illegal to find a way to obtain the video. "So either ask them or go about it a different way." is it sensible to ask someone to give me the videos those who try to make it hard to download them?? so i say again if you dont know maybe you can find another friend to help me :) have a good evening. thank for ur attention |

Anyway, yes. If they say no then you go about doing it the alternative ways. or give up. They clearly state in their terms of use that they don't mind content being reproduced for personal use. Just explain the situation and that you're not going to go and youtube their videos. And i do know how, you'd "watch" firefox's temporary directories before and after having started a video, let the video fully load (once having found the file that's concerned), copy it to a permanent place, then go about decoding the junk they've done to encode it (which would take painstaking hours of reversing their flv player) it's not gonna happen unless they give you the origional video. Because the encrypted one is effort trust me. Thread answered. Will someone Please lock? Before it goes where i expect it will. |

Re: could you help me ?
i have tried to watch whats going on firefox cache. but there would no big file there ( do you think that that quality videos can be under 1 MB?? ). and actually it is not loaded compleately i think they cache very little parts at once. they use a little buffer on my ram i think. i am not sure and i dont have so many time to effort on it. and how can i prove that i will not use it on video sites :)
oh i wouldnt know to quote a separate part. thanks where would it go ? :) |

Right where you just took it. -_-"
I highly doubt Jamie wants to explain the intricacies of monitoring your cache in order to grab files off of your browser. I for one use Orbit to grab videos myself, and it has never failed me - until now. Those videos are not separate FLVs; instead, they're embedded in a Flash file, which means you'll need to decompile the Flash file and THEN find out where the videos are from. I think Jamie was referring specifically to a fair-use debate where you argue that downloading videos is fair-use and legal, and where Jamie argues that showing people how to download well-protected videos is illegitimate.

Re: could you help me ?
I was able to get it without too much problems. I cheated. However, since the webmaster put so much work into protecting the property, I will not share it. just wanted to let you know that it can be done.

Re: could you help me ?
I have done it aswell. But only because of my curiosity towards the subject. Again i'm not going to go into it cus it's one level too far in for me to want to divulge how i did.
Just went by the rule that ANYTHING you view on the web must first be downloaded. |

Re: could you help me ?
Yeah, dude, my goodness, that's why I said it's never failed me - *until now.* It won't work with this because the videos are embedded in Flash. -_-"
I think at this point you should simply accept that you're not going to get a solution from this thread - we're capable of it, but we're unwilling to help you do something that may be questionably legal (and please don't try to argue that it's perfectly legal, it's completely up to us as to what we're comfortable with doing). If you haven't already, email the site and ask for direct links to the videos if you want them that badly; otherwise, find a method yourself (but stay on the legal side). Thank you for posting, and have a nice day. :)

Re: could you help me ?
yep maretard has it. Basically a) If i told you how i did it you(or another reader/googler) may go about doing it in different circumstanses. b) if i sent you the videos myself that wouldn't be personal use but re-distrobuting, which is against their terms.
=] sorry. |

Re: could you help me ?
i think i can do it if i spend alittle time for it. but i thought that you can help me and i wouldnt have to spend time for learning that stuff.coz i dont need learning the methodology of them. i need only that videos coz of the slowness of my connection. it is freezing. and now i see that u are in a mood like that "ha haaa ! we can do it. but you cant ho ho hooo !" something like that :D <-- that was a joke.
if you can do it easily , it means the videos would be at youtube, metacafe etc. in near future :) if you dont show how it is easy to get them, the company would not do better of it as well. thats another perspective hehe can you explain me what do you mean with re-producing them ? Quote:
ok i think i am on my own but thanks for ur clues.

Re: could you help me ?
If the videos freeze when streaming then it's likely that your download will freeze aswell[and although FF have tried to combat this it doesn't really work], so this wont fix your problem.
