Problems with websites in IE8
I am having two unrelated problems with my websites displaying in IE8.
One, IE8 seems to want me to use the "title" attribute rather than the old "alt" attribute with images. That works okay, but now W3C shows a validation error (dtd 4.01 Transitional) and is insisting I use "alt" to validate. The second, my top banner image is being shoved down about 15px by IE8 even though it is set for top="0" and that affects other elements. For instance, the photo is now being shoved onto my button row below it. Do I need to change markup language to get IE8 to display my site properly? |

Re: Problems with websites in IE8
No. Just some quick CSS fixes will have you back to normal.
IE 8 is very strange. I would not worry too much about making this browser happy, as the specs are probably going to change before the final release. You can use <title> and <alt> side-by-side. For IE-specific CSS, place a minus sign ("-") in front of the properties you wish to mark as such. Code:
top-margin.banner: 100px; //Opera, Firefox, and others -top-margin.banner: 45px; //IE
