Banner Size different in IE & Firefox

Hi, I have made a simple web page using HTML and CSS. I used a div tag to create a bg with a 1x100 pixel i made from photoshop and made it repeat to create bg. The div tag's width in css was set to 1024px; and it was displaying correctly in firefox but after i checked on Internet Explorer there is a scroll bar below because 1024px was more than enough to fill the page in IE. Can anybody help me so that it can automatically adjust itself so the scroll bar doesn't appear below the page.

You shouldn't use pixel sizing for full-screen elements.

instead of

Code:

width: 1024px

, use

Code:

width: 100%

. This will help ensure all visitors will see your page as intended.
