Aspect ratio resizing

hi,

i need a small help. need a program/algo to resize images. the inputs will be maxHeight and maxWidth.

if current height ? maxHeight calculate aspect ratio and resize to bring it below maxHeight. similarly if width > maxWidth resize by aspect ratio. thus finally my image's width and height will be below maxWidth and maxHeight provided, maintaining aspect ratio.

Please help

Is this for a school assignment? Please read our Rules, 'specially the bit about schoolwork.

If not, I understand IrfanView can batch-process images in much the manner you describe.

Photoshop will also work. But I smell a HW assignment.
