Email link in website
Hey all,
On my website I have a "contact us" link that will send me an email if someone wants support. The email is set up through my web host supplier. Every time I get an email from this support link I get 2 identical emails. Is there something in my code that needs changed or is it with my ISP or is it the web host? Thanks in advance TJ

ALSO--- I wanted to add, I use this taskbar writing that when you look at the bottom left of the page where it normally says "Done" is some writing about my business. I believe it is being blocked by IE coz an information bar pops up saying "To help protect your security, Internet Explorer has restricted this webpage from running scripts or activeX controls that could access your computer. Click here for options....." Now if I allow then I can see the taskbar script but if I close the bar I dont. Now my question is, does everyone get prompted to do this and can they see the writing when viewing my website? How can I make it so they dont have a choice or is that not possible with the new security in the browsers these days?

Re: Email link in website
Hey the two e-mails is nothing to do with your code. its probably the user's e-mail account...
If you wanted to step this up (and avoid the two e-mails) you could make a contact us form which is submitted from your own server using a server side language... http://www.kirupa.com/web/php_contact_form.htm (something like that) Cheers, Jamey |

Re: Email link in website
If you don't mind using a spamhandler, you could just replace the e-mail attrib in that element with another. [This would be more of a quick-and-dirty fix while you implement Jamey's solution.]
With your second issue, most decent web browsers and security softwares blocks scripts like this, because you are attempting to control the browser, rather than just the web site.

Re: Email link in website
All you have is a mailto: link, which is handled differently by different computers. Your site does not handle the e-mail or send it, it just tells the handling application where to send the e-mail... Hence, "that just doesn't sound possible." it is and is likely to be part of the problem... Anyway, you say it is passed through your host, is your host's own mail involved? if so, that could be the problem... If you get the e-mails directly from the writer then it is not but if the e-mail always comes from your host then it's their coding. As i've said, there is nothing in your code that would send two e-mails consistently.
Cheers, Jamey |

Re: Email link in website
It comes directly from the writer, click the link and your email client opens, is this what you mean?
