Re: website builder

get a webhost that has joomla! or Download the scripts and install it at your own host. You can use it to build a nice website and its easy to use.

In addition there are thousands of free templates, plugins and other stuff you can add to it. see the following demo and see if its for you.

Re: website builder

if you downloaded it, you will have to install it manually - I have never done that. Or as I said, some hosting services provide it as a feature. For example, i have webspace with lunarpages for my site, they provide once click installation of it. Makes it easy. Others have it now. You build your pages while online through joomla's control panel.

When I first started using it, I learned the basics of it in a day playing around with settings without reading any instructions. I have been doing websites for 10 years and so far this is the easiest and quickest way for building websites.

Re: website builder

If you are building your first site, we will drop the Joomla for now. Don't worry, we're coming back to it after we have your first page set up.

Read through everything below before doing anything. If you don't understand anything I have said, please ask before proceeding.

Now, we will be using XHTML for the site. XHTML is the new and improved HTML, and is supported by all new web browsers. For this, we will need nothing more than Notepad and your favourite web browser (though I do recommend Opera [http://www.opera.com/download/]]). If you want a better editor, you may download Notepad++ from the picture in my signature.

First thing you want to do is create a new directory ("folder") somewhere, and call it "website". Inside this new directory, go to Tools on the above menu, and select Folder Options; on the View tab, make sure "Hide extensions for known filetypes is unchecked. Right-click, go to New, and select Text Document. Call this "index.html.txt".

Now you are ready to build your front page.

This goes at the very top of your document:
HTML Code:
<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Strict//EN"
"http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-strict.dtd">
<html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" lang="en" xml:lang="en">
<head>
<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html;charset=utf-8" />
<title>a descriptive title goes here</title>
<style type="text/css">
/* you will use this section later for CSS.
</style>
</head>
<body>
Now, we are ready to start with the page design. Instead of telling you what all of the elements are, I'll let you discover them for yourself. Visit http://www.w3schools.com/xhtml/default.asp for more information on XHTML.
