Link in my webpage is not working with out the http in the address location of href tag.Is the http mandatory,if so why?

Hey, if it's not a local link(linking to a file on your server) then yes "http://" is necessary, this is because a protocol needs to be specified to open the external link with. If it's a link to a local file then a relative link would do. Starting the location with "http://" tells the browser the file to open is not relative to the current page.
