[SOLVED] JSP , PHP or ASP ... ??

i got tired to choose actually ... i'm starting to chose for my incoming website , and i have to chose now among these 3 web developing techniques ,, could anybody help me , which one is good for what ?

Personally i like PHP with mySQL(if a db is needed). I've never used JSP, and my knowledge of asp is minute. To be honest you'll get a mixed result here, because some swear by ASP and others PHP (i haven't heard jsp mentionned as much to be honest)... As i see it PHP is readily developed and has a vast amount of documentation, etc. whilst to some ASP is dead.

As carsey said which are you most comfortable with? and which do you have the most knowledge of?

actually i'm comfortable with jsp , although it takes more time to load pages , but its more secured anyways ... it also could deal with MySQL through JDBC -Java DataBase Connectivity- ,,
but actually i may think about php as it is better than asp anyways -i prefere open source + security actually - .. i'm gonna give it a try ;)

You may also want to consider your hosting options. Another vote goes to PHP if you are looking at third party hosting. PHP hosting is cheap compared to ASP or JSP.

I'd not go to ASP in any case since this is not going to be supported by Microsoft in future. If my client insists for Microsoft technologies then I'd rather go for ASP.NET

Also, JSP can only be used on a Windows Server which is usually like double the price of a Linux. JSP and PHP can run on Linux w/ Apache which is the most common server being used today.

i'm totally sure about that ,, actually i'm gonna try and build my website with php , gonna use apache server also .. guess open source is a blessing hehe ..

For me I prefer PHP because I think that it has the ability to do as much an even more that the other languages. The fact that it is it is interpreted and not compiled to me is a good thing... if you need to compile and optimize your code then write the code as an extension an load it in php. The only reason I learned PHP was because Its so popular and when I went looking for web based programming languages its basically all I found. I want to start working into the .Net of things because I want to start developing application.

With .net boasting "manage code", one would think that it would be better. The thing is the php developers realized that php wasn't as strong in the object oriented, code reuse areas and hence php 5 is much better than 4. I am not sure which version of php you guys are referring to but in 5 you have everything from abstract classes to reflection and personally it is easier to manage php with properly designed classes and not writing spaghetti code.

Basically I am pleased with the direction in which php is heading and when 6 comes out with new features like namespaces (well it's undecided) and so on. In the end I believe that it's really up to the developers and those with the final say to determine whether commercial dev will leave php behind.

I Assumed PHP5 aswell, it's definately a big step up from PHP4 (code management in 5 is better).
