preventing someone from getting your picture online
I never post my picture online because some total stranger could get and distribute my picture, but I'm wondering if there's a way I can totally prevent someone from getting a picture of me (or a picture of anything I put up) online. The three methods of getting a picture online that I know are (please post any others you know)
1. Right clicking the picture and saving it (this can be disabled in IE. There was once a picture I tried to right click on and got a pop-up saying not to, but I could in firefox, and possibly other browsers) 2. Saving the web page, which would contain any pictures that are on it. 3. In windows, hitting print screen and pasting it to paint, or any other imaging program. Any ideas how I can defeat all three of them? |

Someone once asked what the big deal was, that you meet people in real life in person, face to face, that you shake their hands and tell them your name, but not strangers, anyone being able to see your picture online.

Re: preventing someone from getting your picture online
You can't prevent people taking your images from a web page - all you can do is watermark them rendering them pretty useless - this may make it not worthwhile posting though if you want people to see them clearly in the first instance.
Watermarking too can be circumvented to a degree by a dedicated Photoshop enthusiast using cloning etc. The web is a great thing but can raise issues of copyright and identity theft ![]() |

Re: preventing someone from getting your picture online
There is a way to prevent people from copying or distributing your image on internet. Just don't put one up. That is the ONLY way.
You see, when you looks at a web page, the page and all the graphics is downloaded into your computer. There are several ways to extract an image from that page in your machines memory, so to be absolutly sure, don't post one/them. |

Re: preventing someone from getting your picture online
Even if you were able to make it impossible to get the picture from the page and onto the computer...someone who REALLY wants that picture could literally just take a picture of it on their monitor with a digital camera and then just crop it off that.
Like DonaldG says, the only way is to never show it.
