files that will not erase

I downloaded some files recently from limewire. Most work but a few do not. Unfortunately these few files were saved to my desktop. Now when I try to erase or delete them they constantly say "error deleting file access is denied Make sure the disc is not full or write protected and that the file is not in use" I also tried to rename these files as they are adult in nature and will not get off my desktop and nothing will work...I ran virus scans and spyware programs and they will not erase....any help out there would be much appreciated!!! Thanks!
