Newbie Needs Help

I need to start using flash in a pretty basic website. Can any one help with any suggestions on free or open source program that you dont need to be a brain surgeon to use? If there are none available what liensed program is best to use. Any pointers would really be apprecciated. I believe i need to be able to output as .swf and .flv

Thank you

Re: Newbie Needs Help

hmm, with flash i don't believe there is a full open source compiler, if you have flash then i suggest you just take the time to learn it... (i did from tutorials: www.tutorialized.com)...

There are a few open source programs (google "open source flash")... but i'm sure Adobe's version will out-do them....

Cheers,
Jamey

Bremner - If you follow the advice from Jamey, you can't go far wrong.

If you have Flash, it may look complicated but you do not have to learn or comprehend every aspect of it to be able to turn out a good looking flash movie.

Have a look at the Getting Started from Adobe. Get a simple sample and see how it is put together.

Caution though: Many new comers to HTML often spoil their work by putting too many moving graphics that totally distract the visitor to the site.

Use moving graphics with extreme moderation - don't loose visitors.

Re: Newbie Needs Help

Just keep in mind that Flash websites do not fare well with search engines like Google, and most users find them to be terribly annoying/non-productive.

Re: Newbie Needs Help

The next major release of Flash will be SEO friendly. Google and Adobe have reached an agreement on making Flash applications SEO friendly.
