Where can I get a validation box to keep spams from filling out the forms on web page? Is validation box the correct term for the box that has distorted letters and abstract lines in it?

It's called CAPTCHA, or Completely Automated Public Turing test to tell Computers and Humans Apart.

I believe there are several open source captcha generators.

Do you use PHP? Check this out and see if it's what you're looking for.
