extreme html beginner...need help with some code

ok so for some reason i HAVE to code this project this way...i have to divide my table into 3 different variables (tableStart, results, and tableEnd). first off...i don't know how to get the table to display my variable values (like i try to get it to display a height variable and all it says on the web page is height). i also have to cut off tableStart right before an image is displayed (so it end with <img src= ) and the next variable is supposed to start with the variable that holds the image name i want. then i'm supposed to display this all with document.write(tableStart+results+tableEnd);

so if someone could tell me how to properly concatenate tables like that and then how to display variable while the table itself is a variable that would be great...keep in mind i HAVE to do it this way. if you can understand all that and help me out that would be great...i am really new to html :S

thanks!
