Server dns or my dns?! DPX100 (Moved from Networking)
Hey, Ive been having a problem with a few of my websites and any other website on the same server. The problem is that i cant get on any site thats on my friends server (server details below), This problem was only at work on a Webstar dpx100 modem but then my friend in wisconsin USA suddenly could not access the sites at home and reported the same symtoms as myself.(Not the friend who owns the server)
At first i thought it was the dns,the computer,or the sites so i had myself and several people racking there brains as to what it was and the DNS seems the most likely problem, but it just cant be due to any other website working fine and even when using opendns the website still cannot be accessed. What is interesting is that i can connect to the website using a proxy for example " http://Hidemyass.com " which just raises more questions in my mind. Ive had my friend reset his server and check if any ips are banned, he reset and checked every possibility and says there is not problem with his server!. So i ask you what is the problem? All questions welcome. Thanks :) ~## Server Info & Website Info##~ Name Servers: ns1.gurilla.net ns2.gurilla.net Unable to access websites. www.boomshaa.net www.blueverse.com www.jamesarcade.com All websites on the same server, all cannot be accesed by me at work or my friend in the usa Last edited by JohnthePilot : 06-07-2008 at 03:31 AM. |

Not sure if you resolved this issue or not, but I am able to access all three sites listed just fine.
If it's still not working for you, have you tried pinging/connecting to the ip address for each site? Also, you said you couldn't get to the site from work, how about at home? Let us know how it go!

Have you tried a traceroute to see where it stops? The path could be broken somewhere in the middle of the hops...
How to traceroute (Just in case )

Re: Server dns or my dns?! DPX100 (Moved from Networking)
i was able to access all the sites just by clicking on the links. Did you use a router. I remember one time when i was doing tech support for an isp a cu was not able to go to a particular website with his router. When he connected directly to his modem he was able to access the site.

Couple ideas...
You said you tried with opendns and it failed? I would try having someone else connect via opendns to see what happens. nslookup "url" "dns server" -- This will allow you to specify a dns server to look it up with. What is the dns server addy on your home computer? I am really thinking it's your DNS and a call to your ISP may be the only way to fix it.
