Fonts and my website.
I just recently found out that a font I used on my web pages do not actually 'appear' on my site. Because I have it locally I could see it but no one else can. I have tried uploading the font.ttf file to my web server and that didn't work.
I tried googling for info and found something about WEFT but after following the instrux this didn't work either! Can anyone help me get this font to appear on my site? thx! Last edited by ljplemons : 06-03-2008 at 12:45 PM. |

Re: Fonts and my website.
hmm, i've never used a personal font online, generally it's a standard to stick to web-safe fonts, mainly because different browsers won't bother working out the font... And it means the font has to be downloaded before the text is loaded/changed anyway, still if you want to do it then read this:
http://annevankesteren.nl/2003/08/font-face It will guide you through it, still most people will advise against using your own font... You could always replace the text with an image(if it's a title then this works well) Cheers, Jamey |

Re: Fonts and my website.
i would love to pick a web safe font, the site I created is about a winter event and I found a font that looked like the letters were snow capped, I hate to not be able to use it. I don't know enough about web design to understand Anne's site, but I do appreciate your help. I have been trying to use the image idea and am having trouble creating the image, but once I figure it out I think that might be a quick answer at least.
Thanks so much! |

Re: Fonts and my website.
you could just print screen the text as it is on your pc then insert the images where they are, (view the site as you want it to look, hit the prtscr button and copy it into an editor)...

Re: Fonts and my website.
aaahh.... I finally figured it out...
I created a text box in Word. then copied the box to Paint, cropped it, then copied that back into my web page. Then uploaded the image to my web server... thank you so much for your help! |
