Post Firefox 3

Hey Everyone,

Looks like the official release of Firefox 3 is right around the corner. With the new version comes new features and so I thought it would be a good idea to post some of the new capabilities of this latest version. Below are a couple of links that I think are worth looking over.

First link is the CSS improvements in Firefox 3 direct from the Mozilla developer center. This is basically the non-laymen css feature list/bug fixes coming to FF3. For more information on what the new version brings to the table check out this link.

Second is a Sitepoint blog called Two Hidden Features New in Firefox 3 by Kevin Yank. He talks about a couple of the new features coming to FF3, how they work, and how it benefits web developers.

Hope you like. If you find any other tutorials on some of these new features coming to FF3 please post them here for all to read.

Thank You.

Please note that installing Firefox 3 will overwrite your existing installation of Firefox on Mac OS X and Linux. On Windows, Firefox 3 installs in a new folder. For all systems, you won't lose any of your bookmarks or browsing history, but some of your extensions and other add-ons might not work until updates for them are made available.
Meh - I'll wait a bit :) Can't wait for it to be truly ready for download though!

Ran across another blog with good information about FF3. This explains about how FF3 translates "Extended Validation certificate" in regards to site "safety" and verification.

Right on!

I'll be interested to see the actual download numbers when it's released. Should be impressive.

Mark your calendar, wrap a ribbon around your finger or write a little sticky yellow note. Download Day will start on June 17, 2008.

Re: Firefox 3

I think it will be worth the download. I don't plan to download it on the 17th - but I do wonder if their servers will crash.

One new feature i really like is it actually wants for passwords to work before you are required to respond whether or not to save it.

Re: Firefox 3

Haha, yeah i understand what you mean there, though i think since FF2 it saves the most recent password... like if you enter a password and save it and it doesn't work then you enter one that does and save it, FF only saves the latter... That's from my observation anyway (because i've done this on a tonne of forum's etc and i don't have 10 entries for each site just the one that worked)....

Still that would be nice but implementing it and finding a way to check if the password worked or not(on website based logins) would probably be hard... because some/most will still redirect to a "bad password" page and for FF to identify that may be difficult...

Re: Firefox 3

Check out attached image... The one I downloaded today was still Firefox 2. You can even see the date and time to prove it. Crazy eh?

Just downloaded again, the right one this time.

haha, yeah I heard about that - it was fixed soon after :P

I'm running FF3 now, and I like it quite a bit. Runs MUCH faster now, I love that.
