What makes web 2.0?

Simple enough question, I am totally confused onwhat consists
on a web 2.0 website. And I would like your opinion on what you think
should consist in it. Hopefully it will give us all a greater insight into the
future of web design & programing.

I would answer but I honestly dont have a clue, might be java based
websites using such libraries as moo tools to create rich web based
environments.

Lol Love to hear from you guys.

Re: What makes web 2.0?

Web 2.0, to me, is big shiny buttons and logos that reflect off of an imaginary web surface.

Really though I don't know. Perhaps using php/mysql with ajax? Programming with .asp? So I was googling and one of the first links I clicked into was O'Reilly -- What is Web 2.0. Looks like they helped to create this buzz word with the Web 2.0 Conference. Good read, but old. There was a post from a reader at the O'Reilly site that I thought was funny and so true.

Web 2.0...
I take part
you take part
he takes part
we take part
you all take part
they profit.
(Paris '68 slogan remixed)

Curious what Web 2.0 means to you all.

Re: What makes web 2.0?

Yeah, it seems to usually be a buzzword when someone is talking about dynamic websites with dynamic content...as stated, with a server-side language, some database usage, and a bit of candy like AJAX. I would say programs like Gmail, Mint.com, etc - real interactive, user friendly, and very powerful sites.
