Offline Password protected Wiki Editer

I am not sure if this is the right area to post this question but it seemed the most suiting, if it belongs somewhere else i'm happy to repost elsewhere.

I'm looking for a wiki site that can be password protected so that only people with access can view or edit it.

I am also hoping for a piece of software that lets you work on the wiki offline and then synchronize when you have internet access.

I am aware of offline wiki software and password protected wikis but i've yet to discover any software or site that can sync or do all of these.

I know you can synch frontpage with hosts and it updates the files on the hosts when ever page is updated.... research that might work with wiki if wiki is edited via... front page... if you want to work with it offline to just update the website I dont know if thats possible unless you have the databases and everything with you offline is well and then having the reupload the new databases edit the view of some pages... could make the process just the whole load longer. But the idea does not sound to bad... but I do not think there is a way to synch wiki's the way you are asking for. Password protected wiki's don't wiki's allow people to register... im sure there is a value u can change saying only registered members can access it... then register people you want and hide registeration from everyone else...
