Website and Music
I would like to embed some music from a Cd in the my home page of my website. I thought it would be nice if I could have an music on/music off button as well. Does anybody know how to do this? Thank for any assistance you can give me.

Re: Website and Music
Hi tdb,
A lot of hits came up from a google search... Never have added music to a site due to the annoyance factor. Here is some example code below though. Code:
<embed src="yourmusicfile.mp3" width="144" height="74" type="audio/mpeg" autostart="false" loop="false" bgcolor="white"> </embed>

Re: Website and Music
Thanks Jaxo for trying to help me out much appreciated, but I'm a novice so it's really all Greek to me. My music file is a MPEG4 I'm gonna assume it has to be converted to HTML file. I wanted my music file to play on my home page only say if you press tbd and the music starts playing or something.

Should be able to convert MPEG4 to mp3. Also the code shown above is a real simple player. Very small. With auto start off someone would have to click play to listen to the music. Check out link below for example of the player using code above.
http://www.roadrunnerpublications.net/audiotest.html Perhaps that would work? There are many other options out there using javascript or flash to create different players. Perhaps someone with a little more experience with this will jump in and offer some advice.

Re: Website and Music
Quick design tip... nobody likes webpages to make noises unless they're expressly intended for that purpose. At the very least, don't put such code on the front page of your site unless you want me and people like me to navigate away as quickly as possible when the music starts.

Re: Website and Music
I'm a musician acoustic/classical guitarist. What I wanted to do is as I said previously not have the music play immediately but if you click or moved your mouse over my name tdb for example folk could hear me playing. At this point my music for music page hasn't been all recoreded so in the mean time this will have to do.

Re: Website and Music
Thanks for the heads up Redcore. I put a play/stop button on my Music Coming Soon page for the time beginning, but XSPF is something I'll defnitly look at. Allow me clarify I'm an amature/hobbyist guitarist; I read my post and it/I sounded a bit pretentious. Thanks again everyone for the links and advice.

Re: Website and Music
I knew exactly what you wanted :) It's only natural to want to make a site featuring your own music when you're a musician :P
If you need help with that player, let me know. It's kind of on the complicated side, I've always been meaning to write a user-friendly tutorial on it.
