Need help knowing how to choose a theme
Hello all of you blogoholics! I am learning about WordPress now with the intention of launching my own blog. I am wondering if you can give me some input into what factors to consider when choosing a (free) theme that has already been designed.
I am looking at magazine type themes now because I will be posting a lot of info on my blog. I want to have a main area to discuss the work that I am doing; one area to talk about personal things; one for a western business in China of the month; one for a chinese word of the month and one for a Chinese culture event, activity, etc of the month. Please feel free to throw in lots of buzz words and links in answering questions. I love to follow up on them online. Questions: 1. How do you decide whether to use a page or whether to post? 2. Can you include other services, i.e. youtube or flicker, in all themes? Not just a link but actually show the video from youtube on the blog? 3. If I open a facebook account or some other service are there ways to automatically draw/update from one source to the other? Are there other things I should be aware of? To give you some idea I am considering using the following: http://www.darrenhoyt.com/demo/mimbo2/ http://www.bloggeries.com/forum/word...-wp-theme.html Thanks for any light you can shed. |

2. no you cannot. It would break some themes. However, if you know css you may be able to modify the themes for them 3. not sure, but if you can post using email, that would be one way of getting all at once.

Re: Need help knowing how to choose a theme
Pages are considered more of a permanent fixture on a webpage, but there is no hard and fast rule on which to use for which situation. Pages can't receive comments (on a stock installation) For example, you may have a page that is an "About Me" section.
Regarding your third question, Facebook can import any RSS feed, so yes you can post in WP and have it show up on Facebook.
