Creating a new CSS Style Sheet
Creating a New Style Sheet and a new CSS Style
Open your site in Dreamweaver and do the following: 1. Open any page of your site and select window > CSS Styles and Click the New CSS Style button (+ icon), a pop-up window will show up. 2. Select Class in the Selector Type. Now type your style name in the Name box (example: .bullet). Use the Tag Selector Type for redefining HTML tags or the Advanced Selector Type for hovers, id attributes or combination of tags. 3. Define the style in a New Style Sheet, give a name (example: styles.css) and save it under your site root. Click OK. 4. In the CSS Style Definition pop-up window that appears give the Formatting Attributes like Font, List, Background, Border, Positioning, etc. Ok here's the thing when I following Step 1. I don't see the + Icon that is mentioned in this Tutorial. I'm using DW8 so can someone tell me where it is located ? |

Re: Creating a new CSS Style Sheet
There's light at the end of the tunnel! Dreamweaver doesn't take too long to get accustomed to. Typically the learning curve isn't much and people can get up and running pretty quickly.
There are lots of tutorials that aren't worth a damn, for sure. I try to bookmark the ones I really like so I can pass them on later. The only ones I have on DW are for MX, not 8...sorry! |

Re: Creating a new CSS Style Sheet
Not much difference imo .. I bought DW8 & Updated to Flash 8 around the same time I think and there were some changes going on in my personal life where these just sat in a Folder on my desktop for months untouched while the World of design technology was passing me by
I don't live & breath this stuff like many of you here ..building sites isn't my day job although it's always been my passion. When I first learned html, js & cgi it was when hardly anyone knew it. I made a lot of money just putting pages together for people who didn't want the fp look on their site. Problem is, I then laid off for a few years really and when I got back into, OMG there was a whole new language out there Coldfusion, DW xtml fireworks etc etc .. css has been around for awhile but keeping up is hard when you don't keep up // btw, I plan to post my code but I don't want to post the whole thing so if you are willing to help, I should post something later today my friend, TYVM again ..

Re: Creating a new CSS Style Sheet
I fall out of the loop quite a bit myself. Sometimes I just get TIRED of programming and web design. It's not something I want to do for the rest of my life, that's for sure. It's just a means to an end...but sometimes it can be a blast when I'm building sites that are really cool and useful to me...and I also enjoy helping people out (as I've been doing here at this forum).
I don't know any ColdFusion, I have a friend who LOVES it and thinks it's much easier to do things...I have barely looked into it though. I went the PHP route instead because of it being widely supported and there's tons of information out there to help you out when you are stuck. :P Feel free to post code and I would be happy to look it over. As for CSS, I'm not an expert in that...but certainly I could look it over. |
