Java programming problem
Hey,
I'm having some trouble getting a program started. I have CS 101 with java language and I'm having a hard time starting this program. I know that your not suppose to write the code for me but if you could point me in the right direction it might be easier for me. The program is converting the Julian Calendar or Gregorian calendar to a Julian Date. Based on the year it will use the first input (starting date) and take the difference after entering the last input (second input, ending date) it will then calculate the Julian Date (counted in days between the two inputs). I made a program that did this, it accounted for era (AD or BC), time (12 hour clock), day, month (month number), and year. I was not allowed to use methods so I had approximately 400 lines of code. Now, I get to use methods and I have the following changes: I have to put in the era time (24 HOUR CLOCK) day month (as in the name of the month) year This has to be inputed all in one line... I don't know what to do for that. I can't figure out a string method in order to do this. Nor any other method. He expects us to use static methods for input verification and for conversion to and from Julian Date at least. If this sounds confusing its because it is (at least for me). Anyway, I appreciate all the help. I don't even know where to start though, so some guidelines on what to do would be awesome. Thanks guys, I appreciate it. |

Re: Java programming problem
Actually sorry (for double post to), could someone give me a good link with some really good documentation on some Java methods and classes and stuff. I mean, I know about the Java doc, but it's confusing. Could someone send me something that I can look at and know exactly what they mean. (beginner programmer), thanks guys.
