Help starting website
I want to make a website for reviewing music. I can design it and everything but the one thing i really would like to do is give viewers the ability to give ratings themselves to chosen songs or albums. I'm guessing i'd have to store all that in a database but i'm almost clueless with all of that. I was wondering if someone could just point me in the right direction? I'd appreciate any help.

Re: Help starting website
That sort of stuff is usually done via, PHP and CGI, you may want to google it to learn more. But hold out and one of our web design team should be able to tell you more.

Re: Help starting website
Ok. Basically, I want the visitor to be able to input a number 0.00-10.00. That will be entered into the database and averaged with the others and displayed on that page. Check out www.metalstorm.ee, something like that.

Re: Help starting website
If you like the rating on this site for example:
http://www.onlinehowto.net/Tutorials/Development/Howto-Integrating-Flash-file-in-PHP-documents/467/2]Howto Integrating Flash file in PHP documents you can get html source code and write some PHP script to receive the value [1-10] wich user choose by clicking on radio butons.

Re: Help starting website
I might be able to use that. So for example, if one person rated a song a 10 and then another person rated that same song a 9, that will keep track of those two ratings and average the 2, then display the result on the page? That's what i want it to do. I'd really like for the viewers to be able to input their own number like 9.67 or something like that. Then when they clicked the submit button or whatever, it averages that number with the others for that song and displays the result. In a nutshell, I want it to show my rating and then the peoples' ratings. I was reading up a little bit and came to the conclusion i'd need to use PHP and SQL or something but like I said in my first post, I know next to nothing about either of them.
