Question Protected site

Hi Everyone,

Could you please tell me how I can create a password protected region on my website similar to this one:

www.gmail.google.com

I would like the users their usernames and passwords.

Many thanks

I use MS Frontpage 2003

Re: Protected site

Yes, but I don't want this to be the case:

"Warning: The free script at the bottom of this page is not totally secure and the password can be seen if someone views your source code."

Is there a better way devil lady?

Please advise. Thank you

Re: Protected site

The link that you sent me simply shows a login and password on a secure server. Are you asking as to how to create a popup box that asks for a password and username to access a certain region/area of that site?

Like a members only ...

Re: Protected site

Coffee Cup Software?

Never heard of it. Was going to suggest holding a PHP, MySQL database combination with the coding for a form and password protection but if Coffee Cup does the trick, then use it

Re: Protected site

I am digging my own grave here.

The coding would take numerous hours but I'll give you a brief outline. The user would enter your site. Click on a Members tab. When that link is clicked a new window would open asking for a username/password.

The user then either inputs the username/password and the database is checked to verify that it is correct.

The owner would have total control as he/she would control the database therefore being able to add/remove members as he pleases. Alternatively another admin only section can be added to alter members' priveleges.

*phew*

I'm weary just thinking about it
