active links in IE

hi folks,
any way to prevent the annoying dotted ring around active image links in IE?
... just one of those silly things that gets on my nerves...

There is no way to get rid of these dots. They annoy me, too and quite frankly, I see no reason for them. Just another pointless addon to tell some very illiterate computer users that they clicked a link.
