Google and my Web Site

Ok I am not too sure if this is the correct place for this but here goes.

I have a forum that has been up for about a year now. No matter how I try I just cannot seem to get it showing up in Google when I do a search for it under general words that should bring it up. Or it is so far down that no one sees it. I have done the meta tags I have tried all sorts of trick to get it into a better position. Here is the link

http://triumphtalk.com

The way I look at it, it should show up with the following words “Triumph, RAT, Motorbike, plus a variety of the model names” However I can only get it to show up if I use “Triumph Talk” and this will come up as the listing.

Triumph
Triumph, RAT, Triumph RAT, Triumph Classics, British bikes, Riders, Association, Triumph news, Riders Association Of Triumph,
www.triumphtalk.com/ - 102k - Cached - Similar pages

So what am I doing wrong with trying to get this listed in a better position?

add your site to google. http://www.google.com/addurl/

This isn't a garaunteed fix for this, but it will help. Google is a very very very very very very popular search engine, therefore is has BILLIONS of site and pages to list so one certain site is NEVER garaunteed a good spot.

I have done this and it is listed but I just cannot seem to get it to show up with the other Triumph site like I feel it should using the same search criteria as I would for them. I have had a look at the Meta tags that they use and mine are very similar and the same in some cases.

Check out Google Sitemaps. Google would crawl your site and most likely add it to the index. Itworked for my site. The thing you need is a sitemap in ROR format. Visit here for one of those. Once you create your sitemap and submit it to google for crawling, give it about two weeks to be displayed in google. Good luck!

There is nothing on the page for the spider to crawl and see that your site is about talk of the triumph motorcycle. You also have no meta description which is why the description shows the way it shows. Do some research on basic SEO (search engine optimization). Here is a link to start. Click Here

If it shows up at all in Google, he is already in it.

Heres a good site which analyses your meta tags etc and makes suggestions.

Let me ask you something. Say you were looking for a forum to discuss Fords. (Yes, I know they suck) You see a link on there but all the description says is 'Focus, Explorer, Taurus, etc..' and just names names of the cars. Then you see another link that says something along the lines of a forum to discuss your ford car or truck. Which one would you pick?

Also, you an get rid of the keyword meta tag. It has absolutely no usefulness in search engines nowadays. They don't use them. They figure it out based on the content of your site.

I know what you are trying to say but I also need to take into account that some people may be searching on a particular model or on the word RAT being Riders Association of Triumph. Now I am not sure when you tell me to leave out the key word meta tag what I need to do here. So should it looks like this

Triumph, Triumph Motorcycles, RAT, Triumph RAT, Triumph Classics, British bikes, Daytona, Sprint, Speed Triple, Triumph Dealers, Triumph Spares, Bonneville, Adventurer, Trophy, Scrambler, Daytona 955i, Triumph Motorcycles, Rocket, RAT Events, Riding Events, Cafe Racers, Speed Four, TT600, Parts, Accessories, News, Reviews, British bikes , Rocket, Cursers, Classics, Motorcycle movies, Motorcycle News, Events, Triumph FAQ

Or must I also have this in at the end.

<meta name="Description"CONTENT="Triumph, RAT, Triumph RAT, Triumph Classics, British bikes, Riders, Association, Triumph news, Riders Association Of Triumph, ">
<meta name="Author" CONTENT="David">
<meta name="GENERATOR" content="Web-Source.net">

You can leave the keyword tag in there if you like, but it has no use. I was saying just take it out completely.

Try something along the lines of this. Make sure the description is not too long though. Use a simple meta tag analyzer to find this out.
<meta name="Description"CONTENT="A place to discuss Triumph Motorcycles such as (then list certain types here)">
<meta name="Author" CONTENT="David">
<meta name="GENERATOR" content="Web-Source.net">
<META NAME="ROBOTS" CONTENT="all">

Make the title and the description easy to read. It needs to make sense as well as cover the words you want. Make it a sentance.

Seems good to me. Hopefully it will bring you some more visitors. Just don't expect them right away. The SE's have to update the info first.
