[SOLVED] Being Forced to Run dos2unix
My web host provider (web.com) just gave my account a "free upgrade", and after doing so, any cgi script I uploaded would fail with a generic message that didn't lead to an immediate answer. I finally got my problem escalated to someone that could provide some advice that worked - and that was to sign on to a shell and run dos2unix against my scripts after uploading. It worked. I'm glad that I'm finally able to get something working, but I think something is not right. I always have used Filezilla to transmit my script files, and I always make sure it is in ASCII mode. This extra step to run dos2unix is a bit of a pain - does anyone have any advice on what can be done? The server my scripts are now on is Linux - Red Hat 4.1.2-42. I have had accounts with various web host providers for many years, and I have never had to run dos2unix. TIA.

Re: Being Forced to Run dos2unix
RESOLVED. The upgrade performed by the web host provider included vsftp, which has a default of not allowing ascii uploads or downloads. I forwarded that info to the provider, and a few days later they made the configuration change. Slowly but surely, this did finally get resolved.
