Open GL Version

Hi there, I wish to run an AutoCAD application, while its testing device has checked my hardware and OS, and verified all positively except for one item - "Open GL Version". It requires Open GL 2.0, while has confirmed my using "2.0.6347 Release". Can you please kindly explain briefly what these both versions/releases are and if/how I can upgrade mine to the required level, if possible at no extra cost? Thanks in advance for a short piece of advice here!!! My best, Kazbister

Re: Open GL Version

First you report the version is higher than what the software says you need. Perhaps that is a bug in the program. I'd contact the vendor of the program and enquire about that.
I think OpenGL support depends on the graphics card and the graphics drivers (be sure to use the ones from the graphics card vendor, not generic drivers bundled with Windows, as they usually aren't optimized, especially for OpenGL).
If my knowledge is up to par, OpenGL (unlike DirectX) defines API's even when those aren't yet implemented in hardware (unlike DirectX), therefore, if your GPU doesn't support a specific extension, it will be done in software.
Perhaps the program checks for hardware support of certain extensions. If those aren't present, there's not much that can be done besides upgrading to a graphics card that supports such extensions.

lists a program that reports your GPU's OpenGL capabilities. I'll admit the contents of the reports are way over my head.
