Publishing: Sony Vegas Pro Pl. 9.0 FAIL

Alright, Before getting Sony Vegas. I delt with WMM and now flipping through multiple videos and fourms I finally made a video! *appaluse* Promblem is, I cannot publish it. I went to Render As and tried to save it as wmv. .avi .mepg nothing works! I mean it comes outs instead of 34 Seconds. 1 or 2 or 3 seconds.... ah its so frustrating. I'd love some help, step by step would up most helpful. if you need anymore info you be helpful.

What's the source video's specifications?
Feed it into gspot (http://www.headbands.com/gspot), avicodec (http://avicodec.duby.info), or mediainfo (http://mediainfo.sourceforge.net) if you're unsure.
Sometimes if there's some corruption in the middle of the video (a discontinuity), a video encoder will stop at that point.
