converting using IVC

I have been using Internet Video Converter for several months now and all is well. When I originally got interested in video, it was recommended I use Zune .wmv as the conversion of choice. Generally, I import my converted videos to Windows Movie Maker, edit, and email or create DVD from there. Is Zune my only choice? Are there other formats I could use which may have an extra something like better resolution, etc?

Re: converting using IVC

If I understand your post correctly and you are using Windows Movie Maker then yes there are better alternatives for finished videos.
Mostly it depends on what you want to do with the finished video - if it is to be emailed then you will need smaller file sizes and will have to sacrifice some quality. Having said that, it is possible to get good quality video with small file sizes using post-production compression software and the latest codecs such as .h264 or Xvid or DivX. Auto Gordian Knot is freeware compression software available from the link in my signature. This allws you to edit and output your video from Windows Movie Maker as a high quality (and large file size) then compress that large file to one much smaller without losing too much quality.
If it is for DVD then you can go for the highest quality and allow the DVD authoring software to do the compression.
For options go to: Finish movie > Save to my computer, follow the prompts until you get to the screen that has a link saying: Show more choices and choose "other settings" - you should then see a list of options, DV-avi will give you the better quality but large file size - this may not be a problem if you are then going to burn to DVD for showing on a TV linked to a DVD player.

hope this helps
