Video Mixer Software

Hi there,

I am a school student who does a lot of audio/visual work at school. My query is regarding a piece of software...that might be out there...to solve a problem.

Here is the issue: When we are presenting a concert or assembly we have many different types of media, which all have to be thrown down one cable to the projector. I run 4 live video cameras through a video mixer, and also often have PowerPoint and Video clips with audio to show aswell. As you can imagine it is a very difficult (not to mention stressful) to merge all of the elements together into one seemless package. At the moment I have a complex system of switches and will often have to place an object infront of the projector lens while I change the media which is being played in the computer.

So: I need to find a piece of software which will:

Mix together (with fades hopefully):
- Live media (inputted from one firewire port)
- PowerPoint, Video, Images etc

and output this to VGA in "extended desktop" mode.

I have already used a package called "MediaShout 4". It did the job well - however I am not willing to pay the $400 or so price tag for software that my school is benefiting from!! If needs be the school will probably pay for this - however it would mean that we wont be able to get any other equipment that we need more!!

So freeware or at least cheaper software would be preferred!

If any body knows of any such software, help would be very much appreciated!!

Cheers,

Reed
