Application Error

I'm working with illustrator CS2 and i keep getting this error message ( the instruction at ox0034cfcb reference at oxa6850fcc. the memory could not be found) I get that message then illustrator shuts down. I don't know if this is a Software or a Hardware issue this happens at least once a day. And my computer crashes on me to. Can anyone assist?????? READY TO CHUCK THIS THING IN THE GARBAGE!!!!!!!!!

Sounds more like a hardware issue if your whole PC goes down.

It's saying that it's looking at a specific portion of the memory and not finding what it needs. Generally this is a fault in the hardware.

You could run memtest86+ to see if your RAM checks out OK.
I think it's recommended to leave it running as long as possible (6 hours is good, overnight better. make sure the PC's properly cooled or in a location that doesn't overheat).

If I got this message (and had 2 diff. Harddisks) I'd try to set the scratch-disk to another HD. Whaddoayknowboutputers...

It could also be related to virtual memory. What are your swap file settings? Have you tried increasing the swap file size?

How much RAM have you got? What does Task Manager say about your RAM and virtual memory usage when you're running Illustrator?

How much free hard drive space do you have?

Are you working with large multi-layered images?
