How can i take a clip from a video (such a youtube) and make it into a animated picture?
Please list both software and online videotogif sites. Test the source. I would prefer a site.

Re: Video to gif?
Media-Convert and gifninja offer a free online service for converting videos to gifs. Both sites tested and safe.

Re: Video to gif?
What format is the video you're trying to convert to gif?
Where did you get that error message from?

Re: Video to gif?
gifninja only supports WMV and ASF videos, but Media-Convert supports MP4 and many others.
Where did you get that error message from?

Re: Video to gif?
Test the video in your media player to see if it's working properly. You might need to download it again from YouTube if it's corrupt.

Re: Video to gif?
I don't understand why Media-Convert would give you the "YouTube direct download service is no more available" message when you've got the saved file on your hard drive and you're not streaming it directly from YouTube.

Re: Video to gif?
The download options are to the right of the YouTube video. Use the MP4 link to download the video to your hard drive before converting it to gif.

Re: Video to gif?
I've just been to Youtube, downloaded a video by clicking MP4, then sent it to Media-Convert to create a gif. Took 2 minutes, start to finish. What are you having trouble with?

Re: Video to gif?
You don't need to get the URL onto the site. There should be a download option to the right of the video, underneath the URL. See pic below.
Click MP4 and it will save the YouTube video to your hard drive as an MP4 video. Upload this file to Media-Convert, wait a few seconds and it will give you a gif. If MP4 doesn't work, use one of the other formats (FLV and 3GP are both supported by Media-Convert).

Re: Video to gif?
I wasn't logged in when I downloaded a video.
EDIT: It's ok. I think I see what the problem is. I forgot that I've got the Easy YouTube Video Downloader addon installed in Firefox. I thought the download option was available to everyone. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/10137
