Capture software cursor problem, help needed.

Greetings everyone,

I have a problem with Captivate.

First a brief description, I work intern at a multimedia company and I need to capture some software.
This is to make a demonstration / showcase about that software that this company makes. Therefore using captivate.

The problem is that I want instead of a cursor, a picture of a real hand being used instead.
The software that is made here is mostly with touch screen interface.

So, is there a way to overlap the current cursor with a say, a picture of a hand?
I was also thinking to just make a 'real hand' cursor and use that because captivate does use .cur files obviously.
But then again, the cursor turns out quite small usually and not great looking.
Maybe anyone knows software to make bigger sized and sharp looking cursors?
Or other capture software that can swap out the cursor with pictures.

Thanks in advance,

- Dan.

Re: Capture software cursor problem, help needed.

You could google for windows cursors. Then you set them in your mouse settings. I don't know if you can pick anything larger than extra-large cursors though (try Windows Default Extra-large to get an idea of how big that is).
An articles with more details:

If you're unable to find .cur files you want, there may be programs to make your own cursors (I know there are programs to make icons - even from bigger pictures - not sure about cursors though, esp animated ones).

Re: Capture software cursor problem, help needed.

Thanks for the reply.

I did make my own cursor with an icon editor program, (realworld cursor editor.) however, I run this computer on windows XP.

Windows xp displays icons only at 32x32.
There is an option to increase the display size of icons up to 72x72 (or close to that.) but that size is still a bit too small.

I want something bigger along the lines of 150x150.
Also I found out that with some icon/cursor editing software some of its quality is lost. The software I used allowed me to import images and edit them and then save it as an .cur (cursor) format.

I'm gonna try doing this with a vista OS, apparantly vista can support big icon files up to 255x255. I could be bit off with the numbers though.

Anyway, I would prefer something that allows we to overlap the current cursor with an image, which I can resize to my liking.

Custom cursor size? (vista)

Greetings everyone,

Is it possible to increase the display size of custom made cursors
in Vista? (of XP if possible at all.)

I made a custom cursor 206x195 pixels.
Yes it needs to be big, it is for a showcase that im making.

Vista supports bigger sizes for icons, is this also possible for cursors?

I know its related to my other question (capture and cursor problem.)
But different, maybe anyone knows a solution to this?

Thanks for reading,

- Dan.
